General

Download Cover Tape Cover tape: Famous Five (Enigma Variations, unreviewed), 3D Ant Attack (Grandslam, unreviewed), Match of the Day demo (Impulze), Block Dizzy (Banzai, YS), SAMtris (SAM, Lord Insanity), Signal Part III music demo (Mikropol), and POKEs.
SAM Computers Ltd continues the MGT tradition by going into receivership. Alan Miles: "We haven't been strong enough. It all goes back to MGT - because of that and the fact we couldn't find anyone else to pick up SAM, Bruce Gordon and I took it on ourselves, even though we knew we'd never get support from the banks ... I think we gave too much away with the Newsdisk [SAMCo's own diskzine], too much of our games in the playable demos. People just weren't responding - after putting the complete first level of Plasmoid on the Newsdisk, we had five orders from a subscription base of 1,300".
Bruce Gordon starts up SAM Technology to sell new hardware for the machine, but only lasts a few months.
Bob Brenchly of Format spends the next few months setting up West Coast Computers to carry on from where SAMCo left off.
PD Column Public House starts to review PD software.
Only TWO new games are reviewed, and neither of them full price.
