Issue Twelve - Christmas 2000
[Browse][Download]

And so YS3 enters 'the dark age', when a new issue would not be seen for months. Despite being the Christmas issue, Issue Twelve was actually released in May 2001. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth from the YS3 team (mostly in Nathan's direction, understandably), and a bit of wailing and gnashing of teeth from Alex Farlie (the only one of our six and a half readers who noticed). (Incidentally, how do you gnash your teeth? I'd be impressed to see someone manage it. Sorry, on with the story.)

In spite of its editor-induced lateness, this issue is one of the finest. Phil Robertshaw conquers all wannabe-Pssst! writers effortlessly, David Raven manages to make a drunken ramble entertaining, and Jon Hyde not only produces another couple of typically brilliant features, but concludes the one feature that's been running from issue one - The Top 101 Things To Do While Waiting For Your Speccy To Load.

In hindsight, it's easy to see where it all went wrong. Nathan's close encounter with the Accident and Emergency Department of the local hospital gave him a whole new perception of life, and how not a second should be wasted (let alone nine hours eating a hearty pub lunch and watching Saturday afternoon TV). And, inevitably, organising and editing YS3 took too much time, no matter how badly he did it. And so YS3 vanished quietly into the summer sun.
