CLASSIC GAMES MAG 'YOUR SINCLAIR'
RETURNS WITH RETRO GAMER

MANCHESTER, UK (18 October 2004)
- Retro Gamer, the UK's first newsstand magazine dedicated to classic gaming, is set to re-create publishing history by giving away a brand new issue of Your Sinclair magazine with the next issue of Retro Gamer.

Originally Your Spectrum magazine, Your Sinclair was first published in December 1985 by Dennis Publishing, and quickly became the UK's best-selling Spectrum magazine, regularly shifting in excess of 60,000 copies every month. The magazine was later acquired by Future Publishing, becoming the clear winner in the famously ferocious 'covertape wars' of the early 1990s, and soldiered on until September 1993, outlasting rival magazines Crash and Sinclair User.

Retro Gamer editor Martyn Carroll remembers: "Of all the early computer magazines Your Sinclair is perhaps the best remembered and best loved. Mixing a healthy dose of humour with the latest game previews, reviews and news, plus programming pages and adventure guides for the cleverer kids out there, it's not hard to see why Your Sinclair is so fondly remembered by retro gamers."

The design of the new issue is based on Your Sinclair circa 1989, a period generally regarded as the magazine's golden age, and resurrects classic features including Pssst, YS Tipshop, Program Pitstop and Future Shocks. Former Your Sinclair writers also get involved, revealing what they've been up in the intervening ten years.

Martyn concluded: "Attempting to do justice to such a popular magazine was always a risky business, so it was important to get former YS writers on-board. Phil South worked on YS right from the beginning and was the ideal man to recall the magazine's glorious history, and former YS editors including Matt Bielby and Teresa Maughan also contribute. I believe this brand new issue will delight YS readers of old, and maybe even introduce the magazine to those retro gamers who missed it first time around."

The new issue of Your Sinclair is published under license from Future Publishing, and comes free with Retro Gamer issue nine. It's available in all good newsagents from 26 October 2004.
