P47 (YS72, 40)As part of the Six Appeal compilation. P47 arcade screenshots ![]() PAW - Professional Adventure Writer/Gilsoft (YS18, UNR) Pacland/Grandslam (YS41, 58) Dull (and very late) sequel to Pacman which turns that brilliant original into just another chase and grab game. Good conversion of a bad game. Pacland arcade screenshots ![]() Pacman arcade screenshots ![]() Pacmania/Grandslam (YS36, 8) A classic Pacman variation with a nice 3D view and good play balance, but lack of variety will shorten its life. Pacmania arcade screenshots ![]() Pang/Ocean (YS62, 94) A trouser-endangeringly addictive puzzley/shooty/cutesy game with lots of bubbles in. Pang arcade screenshots ![]() Panic Dizzy (YS73, 65)As part of the Dizzy's Excellent Adventures compilation. Panzadrome/Ariolasoft (YS1, 7) Paperboy/Elite (YS11, 9) Paperboy II/Mindscape (YS74, 83) Pedalsome frolics in suburbia. Try before you buy. Paperboy arcade screenshots ![]() Parabola/Firebird (YS19, 8) Parallax (SAM)/FRED (YS83, 58) Paranoia Complex/Gremlin (YS43, 49) A limp maze game with little going for it. I'd rather have my wisdom teeth out again. Paris To Dakar Rally/Codemasters (YS69, 62) Paris To Dakar is fast, furious and actually quite fun. Passing Shot/Mirrorsoft (YS46, 65) An addictive little number, but a bit marred by things like dubious computer returns and the inability to take on a mate. Passing Shot/Encore (YS67, 90)Passing Shot arcade screenshots ![]() Pawn, The/Rainbird (YS19, 9) Pazook (SAM)/Supplement Software (YS80, 52) Pendant Of Logryn, The/Zenobi (YS57, 60) Peneless + Toot 'n' Come In/Ivysoft (YS78, 80) Peneless (YS78, UNR)As part of the Peneless + Toot 'n' Come In compilation. Pengo arcade screenshots ![]() Pentagram/Ultimate (YS8, 7) Peter Beardsley's International Football/Grandslam (YS35, 3) Grandslam deserve a red card for this load of (foot)balls. Peter Shilton's Handball Maradona!/Grandslam (YS15, 5) Phantom Club/Ocean (YS25, 6) Graphically good, but otherwise bo-o-oring. Only superheroes need apply. Phantomas/Codemasters (YS12, 7) Phoenix/Zenobi (YS72, 90) Pi R Squared/Mind Games (YS23, 8) An original 'collect and dodge' arcade mind stretcher. The best thing Mind Games has released for years. Bit pricey though. Pick 'n' Pile/Ubisoft (YS62, 80) Colourful French variation on the puzzle game theme - addictive, but not as good as Puzznic (for instance). Pick 'n' Pile (YS72, 76)As part of the Six Appeal compilation. Pictionary/Domark (YS49, 74) A bit of a dud as far as the game goes but the art package is certainly worth splashing out for. That is if you want to spend this much dosh. Ping Pong/Imagine (YS6, 8) Ping Pong arcade screenshots ![]() Pink Panther/Gremlin (YS35, 5) Original, but a bit of a berm to play if you ask me. Pipe Mania/Empire (YS54, 90) An ultra-addictive puzzler. Conclusive proof that because a game looks square doesn't mean it is. Pipe Mania arcade screenshots ![]() Pit Fighter/Domark (YS71, 80) A simplistic but largely enjoyable beat-'em-up which owes much to International Karate. Pit Fighter (YS86, 28)As part of the Super Fighter compilation. Pit Fighter arcade screenshots ![]() Plagues Of Egypt, The/Michael Young (YS52, 60) Planets, The/Martech (YS7, 9) Platinum/US Gold (YS62, 89) Four of the best games US Gold have done (plus one freebie) - you can't go far wrong, can you? Platoon/Ocean (YS28, 7) Big but disappointing adaptation of the Vietnam movie - a war that nobody can win - including the Spectrum owner. Platoon (YS40, UNR)As part of the The In Crowd compilation. Play For Your Life/Imagine (YS24, UNR) Slow, plodding gameplay, but for some reason I liked it. You might not, though. Playdays/Alternative (YS89, 65) The Fun School series is still a much better bet. Plexar/Mastertronic (YS23, 7) Entertaining Trailblazer clone with more depth and better background graphics throughout. A bit on the easy side though. Plotting/Ocean (YS60, 84) Likeable, well-presented but slightly repetitive puzzle game. Very addictive in the short term. Plotting arcade screenshots ![]() Plus 3 Adventures/Mastertronic (YS35, 6) Pneumatic Hammers/Firebird (YS21, 4) Even in the realms of the budget there are better buys than this manic miner. An original concept spoilt by its execution. Podder/Central Solutions (YS8, 5) Pogostick Olympics/Firebird (YS31, 5) Popeye - The Collection/Alternative (YS87, 83) Popeye (YS87, 87)As part of the Popeye - The Collection compilation. Popeye II/Alternative (YS65, 95) Popeye II (YS87, 83)As part of the Popeye - The Collection compilation. Popeye III/Alternative (YS83, 56) Not a patch on Tag Team Wrestling and, after Popeye and Popeye 2, a great disappointment. Popeye III (YS87, 45)As part of the Popeye - The Collection compilation. Potsworth And Co/Hi-Tec (YS77, 92) Loopier than a twist of peel, and stormingly playable. Get it. Now. Power Drift/Activision (YS49, 82) A spiffing coin-op conversion, encapsulating most of the arcade features. A bit flawed, but a playable gem nevertheless. Best on 128k. Power Drift (YS60, 81)As part of the Wheels Of Fire compilation. Power Pyramids/Grandslam (YS37, 7) Bouncy platform game with problem solving to the fore. Doesn't look up to much, but curiously addictive and challenging. Power Up/Ocean (YS66, 90) An absolutely truly scrumptious compilations. 3 incredibly good Megagames and a couple of nice other things. Predator/Activision (YS28, 7) Great graphics, but too tough to get to grips with when sudden death sneaks up at every opportunity. Predator (YS40, UNR)As part of the The In Crowd compilation. Predator II/ImageWorks (YS66, 73) A big film licence carrying on otherwise unspectacular Op Wolf-ish shoot-'em-up. President/Addictive (YS18, 7) Prince Of Persia (SAM)/Domark (YS69, 90) Top-notch platform slash-'em-up, with incredible animation. As good a reason as any to buy a Coupe. Pro Golf/Atlantis (YS14, 7) Pro Powerboat Simulator (YS57, UNR)As part of the Quattro Power compilation. Pro Ski Simulator (YS58, UNR)As part of the Quattro Sports compilation. Pro Snooker Simulator (YS58, UNR)As part of the Quattro Sports compilation. Pro Tennis Tour/Ubisoft (YS50, 85) The best tennis sim on the Speccy so far. The dead accurate (if a tad hard) gameplay makes for some eyebrow-singeing matches. Pro Tennis Tour (YS72, 79)As part of the The Ultimate Collection compilation. Prodigy/Electric Dreams (YS13, 6) Professional BMX Simulator/Codemasters Plus (YS35, 8) Excellent value for money simulation from Code Masters, well presented with fabby tunes. Professional Footballer/Cult (YS69, 64) A good footy game that takes the player's point of view. Professional Snooker Simulation/Codemasters (YS15, 7) Professional Soccer/CRL (YS40, 8) Football Director gone legit - a game that'll appeal to the growing ranks of 'dry' footie sim fans. Prohibition/Infogrames (YS21, 7) A good fast shoot 'em up in the Cop Out format. If you like target games, this one's a must for your collection. Project Stealth Fighter/Microprose (YS47, 91) Seriously complicated and packed to the brim. A top dog flight sim and no mistake. Prowler/Mastertronic (YS31, 4) Psi Chess/The Edge (YS10, 8) Psi-5 Trading Company/US Gold (YS18, 9) Pssst (YS33, UNR)As part of the Ultimate: The Collected Works compilation. Psycho Pigs UXB/US Gold (YS34, 8) A meaty, frantic, dashabout the screen and bomb anything that moves 'em-up. Like a bacon sandwich, you'll be coming back for more. Psycho Pigs UXB (YS41, 79)As part of the Command Performance compilation. Psycho Pigs UXB arcade screenshots ![]() Psycho Soldier/Imagine (YS27, 8) Yet another scrolling shooting job, but so what? It's fun fun fun! (Have you got the scrolls...?) Psycho Soldier arcade screenshots ![]() Pub Games/Alligata (YS12, 9) Pub Trivia (YS73, 82)As part of the Quattro Fantastic compilation. Pud Pud/Americana (YS9, 7) Puffy's Saga/Ubisoft (YS48, 78) A cute and cuddly Gauntlet-style thingy with lots of twee features to please Pacman fans. And it's not a bad little maze game either. Puffy's Saga (YS72, 83)As part of the Six Appeal compilation. Purple Saturn Day/Infogrames (YS48, 60) A well weird compilation of games which leaves a similar 'taste in the mouth' as Captain Blood. If you loved that one, you'll quite like this. Pusher/Paradise Software (YS10, 3) Puzzled!/Tony Marsh (YS52, 60) Puzznic/Ocean (YS60, 86) Unspectacular but very addictive little puzzler. If you like that sort of thing (and we do), excellent. Puzznic arcade screenshots ![]() Pyracurse/Hewson (YS9, 8) Pyramid, The/GI Games (YS78, 70) |
