MASK/Gremlin (YS24, 6) Disappointing cartoon tie-in that's too slow to provide long term zapping. Wait for MASK 2! MASK II/Gremlin (YS26, 6) A not particularly impressive shoot 'em up/get something and take it somewhere else-ish type game. For Mask fans only. MERCS/US Gold (YS67, 75) Smart and speedy, certainly. It's just a bit too easy for the seasoned campaigner. MQM - The Trilogy Demos (PD)/MQM (YS88, 79) Mad Mix/US Gold (YS36, 8) Pepsiman packs a fixx with some nice variations on a classic formula though the gameplay is less well balanced. Madballs/Ocean (YS27, 8) A completely wicked conversion of a completely weird kiddies toy. Good frustrating fun for games playing masochists. Madness Remix (PD)/X-Terminator (YS84, 72) Mag Max/Imagine (YS20, 8) Simple shoot 'em up but packed with a secret hookability that makes you keep on coming back for more! Mag Max arcade screenshots ![]() Magican Demo (PD)/Dominic Morris (YS88, 30) Magicland Dizzy/Codemasters (YS63, 90) Magnetic Moon/FSF (YS46, 60) Magnetron/Firebird (YS28, 8) An absorbing and clever shoot 'em up, with all the hardness of Quazatron and more problems than the cast of Dallas. Mailstrom/Ocean (YS14, 8) Man Utd Europe/Krisalis (YS69, 79) Footie sim with slow management bits and fast arcade sequences. A good all rounder. Manchester United/Krisalis (YS55, 74) Fast but simple footie sim combined with well-presented management - nice if that's your bag. Manic Miner (SAM)/Revelation (YS76, 84) Spread the word - the eccentric explorer with the taste for treasure is back! Manic Miner (SAM) (YS78, UNR)As part of the SAM Pack One (SAM) compilation. Mantronix/Probe (YS7, 7) Mapper, The/Zenobi (YS74, 80) Marauder/Hewson (YS33, 8) Well implemented and visually attractive vertically scrolling shoot-em-up, but nothing new. Marble Madness/Melbourne House (YS17, 8) Marble Madness Construction Kit/Melbourne House (YS12, 9) Marble Madness arcade screenshots ![]() Mario Bros arcade screenshots ![]() Martianoids/Ultimate (YS17, 6) Mask (YS30, 6)As part of the 10 Great Games II compilation. Master Of Magic/MAD (YS9, 8) Masters Of The Universe - The Arcade Game/US Gold (YS15, 8) Masters Of The Universe/Gremlin (YS27, 6) Disappointing tie-in, presumably aimed at a younger audience. There's less here than meets the eye. Match Day/Hit Squad (YS54, 84)Match Day II/Ocean (YS26, 9) Spectacularly clever and playable sequel to Match Day that's sure to have the same lasting impact on Speccy gaming. Match Day II (YS38, UNR)As part of the Game Set And Match II compilation. Match Of The Day/Zeppelin (YS82, 82) It's a management sim for the masses. And it's rather fine! Max Headroom/Quicksilva (YS6, 9) Mazemania/Hewson (YS46, 70) Punchy little maze game, but which might lose appeal due to its repetitive levels. Mega Apocalypse/Martech (YS30, 7) Fair if tricky conversion of the excellent Commodore shoot 'em up. Probably more fun than it first appears. Mega Demo 10 (SAM)/SAM Supplement (YS77, 69) Mega Twins arcade screenshots ![]() Megabucks/Firebird (YS15, 8) Megademo (PD)/Graf and Dr DF0 (YS89, 49) Megadisk (SAM) (YS78, 66)As part of the SAM Pack One (SAM) compilation. Megaphoenix/Dinamic (YS68, 53) Perfectly playable, but too much of an expensive Space Invaders clone. Go for a budgie imitator instead. Mercenary - The Second City/Novagen (YS34, 8) Excellent extension to Mercenary which will keep fans going for yonks. Now where's Damocles, eh, Novagen? Mercenary/Novagen (YS23, 9) Mercenary (YS41, 95)As part of the Command Performance compilation. Miami Dice/BugByte (YS11, 7) Miami Vice/Ocean (YS13, 8) Mickey Mouse/Gremlin (YS32, 9) Violence, waterpistols and cute lickle rodents. What better night's entertainment could you ask for (fnar)? Micro Mouse Goes De-bugging (YS6, UNR)As part of the 30 Games compilation. Microfair Madness/Delbert The Hamster (YS75, 80) Micronaut One/Nexus (YS21, 8) Fast maze and shooting game with incredible graphics and a great plot, but rather too difficult for comfort! Microprose Soccer/Microprose (YS42, 82) A good arcadey footie game with many novel new features. Especially good for 128k owners! Microprose Soccer (YS75, 89)As part of the Soccer Stars compilation. Midnight Resistance/Ocean (YS56, 92) Colourful, varied, well paced and tricky shoot-'em-up (with 'interesting' controls too). Excellent! Monte Carlo Casino (YS73, UNR)As part of the Quattro Fantastic compilation. Monty On The Run/Kixx (YS48, 81)Monty Python's Flying Circus/Virgin (YS58, 90) A rather spooky arcade adventure with a definite weird French feel to it - except it's British! Spiffing! Moon Cresta arcade screenshots ![]() Moonstrike/Mirrorsoft (YS23, 8) A smart little shoot 'em up with simply superb graphics, though a little on the slow side. Moontorc/Atlantis (YS74, 70) Uppy, downy, acrossy, abouty game that's a tad lacking! Moonwalker/US Gold (YS49, 75) A bit repetitive perhaps, but perfectly playable all the way through with some neat graphical touches. What a pleasant surprise! More Tea, Vicar?/Cronosoft (YS94, PRE)Moto Cross Simulator (YS57, UNR)As part of the Quattro Power compilation. Motor Massacre/Gremlin (YS40, 5) Horrible bird's-eye viewed driving game, lacking in any good graphics, fun or playability. The kind of game articulated lorries were designed to run over. Motos arcade screenshots ![]() Mountain Bike Simulator/Codemasters (YS68, 67) Not-that-bad mountain bike scroller, but you brain (or trigger finger) won't be aching too much after you've played it. Movie/Imagine (YS3, 9) Moving Target/Players (YS90, 68) ...but who cares, eh? Mr Heli/Firebird (YS44, 83) Very playable four way scrolling shoot 'em up and buy-extra-weapons-as-you-go type game with a cutesy Japanese feel. Shame about the lack of colour though! Ms Pacman arcade screenshots ![]() Mugsy's Revenge/Melbourne House (YS5, 7) Multi Player Soccer Manager/D&H (YS64, 85) A management game, but good fun nevertheless. Muncher, The/Gremlin (YS37, 8) A large sprite, prehistoric mega-romp and smash-em up with the emphasis on total destruction. Plagued by slow control response but great fun nevertheless. Murder He Said/Zenobi (YS89, 90) Murphy/Pirate (YS26, 3) A totally naff rip-off of an ancient game. Not worth the asking price. Mutants/Ocean (YS20, 6) A disappointing mutation from the Commodore that lacks the speed and playability to make it addictive. Mystery Of The Nile/Firebird (YS23, 8) Tough large-scale arcade-adventure with lots of shooting and bombing as a terrific trio take on the evil Abu-Sahl. Mystical/Infogrames (YS68, 74) Scrumptious-looking shoot-'em-up, but with not enough gameplay. Myth/System 3 (YS49, 95) Lovely colourful graphics, neat animation, great puzzles and bags of clever characters make this the best System 3 game yet, and one of the highlights of the year. |
