CJ In The USA/Codemasters (YS72, 81)
CJ is cute and cuddly but don't be misled - it's a tough, well put-together game.
CJ's Elephant Antics/Codemasters (YS66, 85)
CJ's Elephant Antics C (YS74, 84)
As part of the Cartoon Collection compilation.
CORE/A'n'F (YS6, 7)
Cabal/Ocean (YS47, 93)
A truly maaaaarrvellous coin-op conversion which will be the source of immense pleasure to those with a bloodthirsty streak. A 'must'.
Cabal arcade screenshots A
California Games/Epyx (YS27, 7)
Not too frenetic keyboard waggler with six quite playable West-Coast flavoured events. Up to four can compete.
California Games C (YS38, UNR)
As part of the World Beaters Giants compilation.
Calling, The/Visual Dimensions (YS24, 6)
Camelot Warriors/Ariolasoft (YS13, 7)
Captain America/Go! (YS27, 7)
Jolly little explore'n'shoot game that hasn't got an awful lot to do with Capt. America but is fun all the same. Unlike the soundtrack.
Captain Blood/Exxos (YS41, 68)
Curious game, proving difficult to get to grips with, but which might benefit from perseverence.
Captain Blood C (YS45, 75)
As part of the Special Action compilation.
Captain Dynamo/Codemasters (YS79, 88)
A colourful, bouncy, groovesome platformy sort of thing that's a tad too hard for its own good.
Captain Fizz Meets The Blaster-trons/Psyclapse (YS44, 78)
A fun Gauntlet clone, with some original extra elements which make it really playable. A good start from Psyclapse.
Captain Kook/Paul Cardin (YS62, 80)
Captain Planet/Mindscape (YS75, 49)
Pretentious and exploitative attempt to ride on the success of the TV show. The game's pretty bad as well.
Captain Slog/Alpha Omega (YS10, 7)
Carpet Capers C (YS6, UNR)
As part of the 30 Games compilation.
Carrier Command/Rainbird P (YS36, PRE)
Carrier Command/Rainbird (YS43, 94)
An action packed solid-filled 3D strategic shoot 'em up that 'they' said could never be successfully converted down to the Spectrum - except that it has!! Astoundingly brilliant stuff!
Cartoon Collection/Codemasters (YS74, 91)
Case Of The Beheaded Smuggler, The/Mental Images (YS48, 80)
Castle Eeeerie/Tartan (YS22, UNR)
Castle Master/Incentive (YS53, 93)
An excellent (and spooky) addition to the Freescape canon - faster graphics, lovely presentation. A must!
Castle Master C (YS69, 95)
As part of the Virtual Worlds compilation.
Castle Thade Revisited/SAEC (YS24, 8)
Catch 23/Martech (YS21, 9)
Simply superb wire frame action on a vast scale as you shoot it out and search the cities and swamps of a huge island.
Cauldron/Silverbird r (YS38, 9)
Cauldron II/Palace (YS9, 9)
Caverns D'Or C (YS7, UNR)
As part of the Astrocade compilation.
Caverns Of Kontonia/Atlantis (YS9, 4)
Caves Of Doom/Mastertronic (YS2, 8)
Cecco's Collection/Hewson (YS56, 92)
Fat Cat Cecco and la creme de la creme - you won't see a better compilation all year.
Centipede arcade screenshots A
Centurions/Reaktor (YS23, 5)
A tedious Gauntlet clone which has been rendered completely unplayable by messy graphics and flickery scrolling.
Cerius/Atlantis (YS32, 7)
Chain Reaction/Durell (YS24, 7)
Map and blast maze game in neat 3-D but it'll look too old-fashioned to make most people melt down!
Challenge + Davy Jones' Locker, The/Jack Lockerby (YS21, 7)
Challenge Of The Gobots/Reaktor (YS21, 8)
Very fast. Definitely one for the seasoned shoot 'em up fan. Shame about the colours, though.
Challenge, The C (YS21, UNR)
As part of the The Challenge + Davy Jones' Locker compilation.
Champ, The/Linel (YS65, 58)
Weak boxing sim completely lacking in the excitement dept.
Championship 3D Snooker/Zeppelin (YS80, 70)
   Cheap and cheerful snooker sim.
Championship Baseball/Gamestar (YS21, 8)
A clever sports simulation let down slightly by the Spectrum's limitations and the obscure nature of the game.
Championship Basketball/Gamestar (YS22, 8)
Clever and close simulation of a sport which lends itself to computerisation, but limited by the long game.
Championship Jet Ski Simulator C (YS68, UNR)
As part of the Quattro Racers compilation.
Championship Run/Impulze (YS65, 68)
An ordinary (and slightly crap) driving game.
Championship Run/Zeppelin (YS75, 84)
Championship Sprint/Electric Dreams (YS29, 6)
Super Sprint part two. More of the same plus an easy to use track designer program on the other side of the tape. Recommended for fans only.
Championship Sprint C (YS38, UNR)
As part of the Game Set And Match II compilation.
Championship Sprint arcade screenshots A
Chart Attack/Gremlin (YS73, 90)
Chase HQ/Ocean P (YS47, PRE)
Chase HQ/Ocean (YS50, 94)
A brilliant conversion of a very playable coin-op, and in 128k it's absolutely magnificent. A must buy!
Chase HQ C (YS60, 93)
As part of the Wheels Of Fire compilation.
Chase HQ C (YS66, 92)
As part of the Power Up compilation.
Chase HQ II - Special Criminal Investigation/Ocean (YS63, 71)
SCI - it's racy, pacy and lacey. But we've seen most of it before (except the lacey bits). (Oi! Come back here! Ed)
Chase HQ II - Special Criminal Investigation arcade screenshots A

Chef's Mate (PD)/Dominic Morris (YS88, 72)
Chess Player, The C (YS6, UNR)
As part of the 30 Games compilation.
Chicago 30s/US Gold (YS41, 69)
A nicely presented horizontally scrolling 'gangster' shoot 'em-up which may leave you unsatisfied due to its lack of difficulty.
Chicken Chase/Firebird (YS2, 7)
Chimera/Firebird (YS1, 8)
Chip's Challenge/US Gold (YS61, 82)
Hand-held console puzzler that translates well to the Spec. Crap(ish) to look at, great fun to play.
Cholo C (YS41, 72)
As part of the Command Performance compilation.
Christmas Collection/Hewson (YS47, 93)
One of the best compilations floating around. Requires little in the way of brainpower, but on Boxing Day that's probably just as well.
Chronos/Mastertronic (YS19, 8)
Chubby Gristle/Grandslam (YS33, 5)
An arid game: dried-up gameplay, dessicated graphics, not one to quench your addictive thirsts.
Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer/Electronic Arts (YS43, 70)
For 128K flight sim fans and people interested in flying this could be well entertaining. For the remainder - a tad dodgy, overly complex and difficult to master.
Cisco Heat/Mirrorsoft (YS74, 68)
Cisco Heat doesn't take racing games places they've never been. It's not very good, really.
Cisco Heat arcade screenshots A

City Slicker C (YS37, 6)
As part of the 10 Great Games III compilation.
Classic Games 4/CP Software (YS39, 4)

Classroom Chaos C (YS3, UNR)
As part of the Dungeon Dare + Classroom Chaos compilation.
Clever And Smart/Magic Bytes (YS26, 5)
A wacky arcade adventure based on a German cartoon strip. Interesting, but let down by feeble instructions. Shame really.

Fabby Chess program for the Speccy, let down by poor graphics.
Cloud 99/Marlin (YS35, 8)
Cobra/Ocean (YS14, 8)
Coin-Op Hits II/US Gold (YS66, 78)
A compilation of 5 generally alright (and very violent) games. Just teeters above average.
Colditz Story, The/Atlantis (YS27, 6)
Not the most gripping arcade/adventure in the known universe but you may still find it hard to escape!
Colossal Adventure C (YS13, UNR)
As part of the Jewels Of Darkness compilation.
Colossus 4 Chess/CDS (YS10, 8)
Colossus Bridge 4/CDS (YS14, 8)

Combat Lynx C (YS13, UNR)
As part of the Big Four compilation.
Combat School/Ocean (YS26, 9)

As part of the The In Crowd compilation.
Combat School arcade screenshots A

As part of the 4-Most Action compilation.

Commando/Elite (YS2, 9)
Commando/Elite (YS91, 78)
Commando arcade screenshots A
Compendium/Gremlin (YS27, 6)
Nice graphics and jolly music, but old age may set in before you complete the game.
Computer Maniacs Diary/Domark (YS39, 8)
Not so much a game, as an entertaining and occasionally useful utility.
Con-Quest/Mastertronic (YS10, 8)
Conquestador/Melbourne House (YS12, 9)
Contact Sam Cruise/Microsphere (YS14, 8)
Continental Circus/Virgin (YS47, 60)
A car-racing game that looks broadly similar to every other car-racing game you've ever seen.
Convoy Raider/Gremlin (YS22, 6)
Series of three interlinked mini-games disguised as an arcade wargame. Little challenge and quickly repetitive.
Convoy Raider C (YS30, 6)

Crazy Cars/Titus (YS30, 5)
Run of the mill racing game adding nothing new to the genre.
Crazy Cars C (YS40, UNR)
As part of the The In Crowd compilation.
Crazy Cars II/Titus (YS43, 84)
One great rip-roaring cops and robbers type outrageously fast driving game, with scrummy sound on the 128k version.
Crazy Demo (PD), The/X-Terminator (YS81, 85)
Crete 1941/CCS (YS63, 79)
Um... a wargame, really. And quite a good one into the bargain.
Cricket Captain/D&H (YS67, 67)
If you like management sim and cricket, this might 'bowl' you 'over', but the appeal is limited.
Crisis At Christmas C (YS19, UNR)
As part of the Six-In-One compilation.
Critical Mass C (YS13, UNR)
As part of the Big Four compilation.
Cromwell At War/CCS (YS67, 74)
Solid and playable wargame. Could serve as an okay intro to the 'genre'.
Crossfire C (YS75, 57)
As part of the Atlantis Four Game Pack compilation.
Crosswize/Firebird (YS31, 9)
Supa'-doopa' graphics, arcade style difficulty, and faultless programming make this game a classic - on a par with Zynaps.

Crypt, The C (YS69, 95)
As part of the Virtual Worlds compilation.
Crystal Castles/Kixx r (YS48, 90)

Custerd's Quest/Power House (YS19, 8)
Cyberball/Domark P (YS50, PRE)
Cyberball/Domark (YS53, 70)
Nice idea but far too ambitious for the humble Spec. Die-hard fans could get some fun out of it.
Cyberball/Hit Squad r (YS81, 67)
Cyberball arcade screenshots A
Cybernoid/Hewson (YS29, 9)
A new breed of game. Every adjective you can think of to sum up sheer excellence.
Cybernoid C (YS38, UNR)
As part of the Space Ace compilation.
Cybernoid C (YS56, 90)
As part of the Cecco's Collection compilation.
Cybernoid II/Hewson (YS36, 9)
Lovingly fashioned follow-up to classic shoot 'em up. If all games were this good, I'd be very surprised.

As part of the Christmas Collection compilation.
Cybernoid II C (YS56, 91)
As part of the Cecco's Collection compilation.
