Back To The Future/Electric Dreams (YS6, 4) Back To The Future Part II/ImageWorks (YS56, 79) Massive multiload film conversion, very faithful to the complicated film, and full of variety. We like it. Back To The Future Part III/Mirrorsoft (YS63, 82) Like BTTF2, more small games. Nothing too earth-stomping, but worth playing as a whole. Badlands/Domark (YS60, 68) Rather ordinary Super Sprint lookalike with knobs on. Pales massively next to Ironman. Badlands (YS76, 70)As part of the TNT II compilation. Badlands arcade screenshots ![]() Ball Breaker/CRL (YS24, 8) Yet another Breakout clone, this time in fabby 3-D. Great if you like this sort of thing - otherwise avoid. Ballblazer/Activision (YS6, 8) Balrog And The Cat, The/Zenobi (YS39, 8) Banger Racer/D&H (YS71, 52) Okayish graphics and decent speed don't really rescue this 'un. Bangers And Mash/Alternative (YS78, 70) Platform, jungle fun for the younger Spec-chum. Barbarian/Palace (YS19, 7) Barbarian/Melbourne House (YS35, 7) Fairly easy slash 'em up based on the 16-bit hit, and nowt to do with Maria Whittaker! More addictive than it looks, too. Barbarian (YS40, UNR)As part of the The In Crowd compilation. Barbarian II/Palace (YS37, 6) Slobbery follow-up to everybody's fave slash 'n' drool game of '87. Fab poster, but the game's not up to much. Barbarian II (YS57, 77)As part of the Heroes compilation. Bard's Tale, The/Electronic Arts (YS33, 9) Huge arcade adventure which might convert many a purist. Barry McGuigan's World Championship Boxing/Activision (YS2, 8) Basil The Great Mouse Detective/Gremlin (YS25, 6) Disappointing platformy runaround that pales beside Gremlin's own thoroughly skillo Jack The Nipper II. Basil The Great Mouse Detective (YS30, 6)As part of the 10 Great Games II compilation. Basket Master (YS38, UNR)As part of the Game Set And Match II compilation. Bateria (PD), The/SSC (YS84, 40) Batman/Ocean (YS5, 9) Batman: The Caped Crusader/Ocean (YS37, 9) Batman: The Caped Crusader (YS51, 92)As part of the The Biz compilation. Batman: The Caped Crusader/Hit Squad (YS64, 92)Batman: The Movie/Ocean (YS44, PRE)Batman: The Movie/Ocean (YS47, 91) A brilliantly-done film conversion, but (ever so slightly) let down by limited driving sequences. Batman: The Movie (YS60, 90)As part of the Hollywood Collection compilation. Batman: The Movie/Hit Squad (YS71, 80)Battle Command/Ocean (YS67, 86) Fast, fun and, er, flippin' violent. Some of the missions could have been harder though. Battle Of Britain/PSS (YS15, 5) Battle Of The Bulge/CCS (YS57, 75) Yep, folks, it's another strategy thingie, but fortunately it's quite a good on. (Well, sort of, anyway.) Hurrah! Battle Of The Planets/Mikro-Gen (YS3, 8) Battlefield Germany/PSS (YS18, 9) Battleships/Elite (YS22, 9) Battleships/Encore (YS33, 6)Batty/Elite (YS22, UNR) The best Breakout game you'll find on the Spectrum - and it's free! Batty (YS23, 9)As part of the Six-Pak Vol 2 compilation. Batz 'n' Balls (SAM)/Revelation (YS76, 77) If wall-smashing's your aim, then this is your game. Batz 'n' Balls (SAM) (YS78, UNR)As part of the SAM Pack One (SAM) compilation. Beach Head (YS38, UNR)As part of the History In The Making compilation. Beach Head II/US Gold (YS2, 9) Beach Head II (YS38, UNR)As part of the History In The Making compilation. Beyond The Ice Palace/Elite (YS31, 8) A chunky scrolling platform and ladders game. Great to play, but becomes 'blinkin' difficult too soon. Beyond The Ice Palace (YS44, 85)As part of the The Story So Far Volume II compilation. Biff/Beyond Belief (YS77, 80) Cute, Dizzy-style collect-'em-up puzzler. Big Four/Durell (YS13, 9) Big Nose's American Adventure/Codemasters (YS74, 80) A good game. Much better than covering your bicycle with honey and inviting your friends to throw Rice Krispies at each other. Big Sleaze, The/Piranha (YS20, 8) Big Trouble In Little China/Electric Dreams (YS18, 8) Biggles/Mirrorsoft (YS8, 7) Bionic Commando/Go! (YS31, 9) Excellent conversion of the Capcom Coin-op (alliteration or what?), which out-Karnovs even Karnov. Colourful, fast, fab. Bionic Commando arcade screenshots ![]() Bismarck/PSS (YS19, 7) Biz, The/Ocean (YS51, 96) The best compilation I've seen for blimmin' eons. If you don't have any of these games then this is a "must"! Black Lamp/Firebird (YS29, 7) Graphically sound, but the fiddly bits slow things down a little. Fun for the few for the while. Black Tiger/US Gold (YS51, 78) A good conversion of a slightly weak coin-op. Fans of the original will lap it up. Black Tiger (YS62, 76)As part of the Platinum compilation. Black Tiger arcade screenshots ![]() Blade Runner/CRL (YS3, 7) Blaster! (PD)/The Mad Monk (YS86, 88) Blasteroids/ImageWorks (YS40, 7) Fine update of an addictive but rather one key arcade classic. Blasteroids arcade screenshots ![]() Blazing Thunder/Hi-Tec (YS85, 54) No different from any other vertical shooter. Blind Panic/Martech (YS29, UNR) Average platform game that suffers from being a little too tricky to get into, and a highly irritating siren. Blockbusters/TV Games (YS26, 8) Not only a superb version of the TV show but one of the best quiz programs ever produced. Blood Brothers/Gremlin (YS32, 7) An annoying platform shoot 'em up, saved only by a savagely addictive sub-game. Blood Valley/Gremlin (YS30, 5) Blood Valley is an average game that's certainly not one of Gremlin's best. Bob's Full House/TV Games (YS45, 80) Surprisingly entertaining and challenging computer version of the TV quiz show. Not perhaps a long laster, but great fun in multi-player mode. Bobby Bearing/The Edge (YS8, 9) Bobby Yazz Show/Destiny (YS35, 8) Chortle-a-minute puzzle game with some neat touches and a very professional execution. Destiny's best game so far. Book Of The Dead, The/Essential Myth (YS16, 8) Bosconian arcade screenshots ![]() Boulderdash/Prism (YS22, 8)Boulderdash/Prism (YS84, 86) Boulderdash Construction Kit/Databyte (YS26, 8) At last you can exercise your creative talent on this great game. Boulderdash II/Prism (YS22, 8)Bounder/Gremlin (YS7, 9) Bounty Hunter, The/River (YS44, 70) Boxing Manager II/D&H (YS52, 65) Hardly the most accurate management sim, but with enough atmosphere and playability to keep you happy. (YS25, 9) Excellent shoot 'em up arcade game with more than a twist of problem solving. This is one to melt your joystick. Breakthru/US Gold (YS13, 4) Breakthru arcade screenshots ![]() Brian Clough's Football Fortunes/CDS (YS16, 9) Bride Of Frankenstein/39 Steps (YS21, 8) A competent thriller as Mrs F goes in search of her man's missing bits. Bubble Bobble/Hit Squad (YS69, 90)Bubble Bobble arcade screenshots ![]() Bubble Dizzy/Codemasters (YS74, 80) Enjoyable but frustrating trip to Davy Jones' locker. Take a rolled-up newspaper with you. Bubbler/Ultimate (YS19, 7) Buccaneer/Insight (YS1, 4) Buffalo Bill's Rodeo Games/Tynesoft (YS45, 54) A multi-game Wild West jaunt with one accent on fun, and erm, another accent on being a bit crap - and easy. Mind you, young children might find it a bit of a hoot! Buggy Boy/Elite (YS31, 7) Fast, rough but nothing startlingly new. Don't play it after a heavy meal! Buggy Boy (YS38, 7)As part of the Fists 'n' Throttles compilation. Bugsy/CRL (YS14, 8) Bulbo And The Lizard King/Zenobi (YS20, 8) Bulgulators (SAM), The/FRED (YS86, 70) Bully's Sporting Darts/Alternative (YS87, 54) Darts, eh? Butcher Hill/Gremlin (YS41, 57) An uninspiring idea for a game tackled in a pretty uninspiring way. No Operation Wolf (no matter how hard it tries). By Fair Means Or Foul/Superior (YS37, 6) A mediocre boxing attempt that just does not survive the count. |
