Ball Breaker/CRL (YS24, 8)
Yet another Breakout clone, this time in fabby 3-D. Great if you like this sort of thing - otherwise avoid.
Brainstorm/Firebird (YS30, 6)
Bravestarr/Go! (YS25, 9)
Excellent shoot 'em up arcade game with more than a twist of problem solving. This is one to melt your joystick.
Championship Sprint/Electric Dreams (YS29, 6)
Super Sprint part two. More of the same plus an easy to use track designer program on the other side of the tape. Recommended for fans only.
Clever And Smart/Magic Bytes (YS26, 5)
A wacky arcade adventure based on a German cartoon strip. Interesting, but let down by feeble instructions. Shame really.
Dan Dare II/Virgin (YS27, 9)
Skillo follow up to the original classic. Flip screen arcade adventure at its very, very best. Destined to become a major hit.
Dawnssley/Top Ten (YS23, 3)
Cheap Gauntlet clone that lacks quality and gameplay. Very poor value.
Dead Ringer/Reaktor (YS21, 6)
Unusual shoot'n'dodge game which is more addictive than you'd imagine on first sight. Let down by poor graphics.
Dervish/Power House (YS30, 3)
Disposable Heroes/Power House (YS30, 2)
Double, The/Johnson Scanatron (YS26, 8)
User-friendly footie management game. Hardly original, but probably the slickest on the market today.
Eye/Endurance Games (YS26, 5)
Lackadaisical version of the board game. Strong on packaging, weak on content. I don't think you'll see Eye to Eye with this one.
Galletron/Bulldog (YS21, 5)
Far-from-addictive arcade adventure that's not up to the Bulldog label's usual standards.
Grand Prix Simulator/Codemasters (YS24, 7)
The game that tries hard NOT to look like Super Sprint. Good racey fun but a bit too much like BMX Simulator for comfort.
Impact/Audiogenic (YS29, 7)
Return of the Breakout clones. Non-sexist, non-violent family entertainment. The inclusion of a screen designer makes it fabby value as well.
Implosion/Cascade (YS24, 6)
An inferior Last Mission clone that's okay for half an hour's blasting, but there's little else of interest.
Jackal/Konami (YS25, 7)
A fair attempt at converting the coin-op. Fast, playable, but let down by poor graphics.
Jet Bike Simulator/Code Masters (YS27, 5)
A new concept in budget game packaging from Code Masters. (Pity the game's not up to much, though!)
Joe Blade/Players (YS23, 8)
Best Players budget game ever. A terrific search 'n' shoot mini Dan Dare clone, with good graphics and animation.
Last Mission/US Gold (YS22, 8)
8-way shoot 'em up set in space. A slow but very addictive conversion from the Data East coin-op.
Pi R Squared/Mind Games (YS23, 8)
An original 'collect and dodge' arcade mind stretcher. The best thing Mind Games has released for years. Bit pricey though.
Plexar/Mastertronic (YS23, 7)
Entertaining Trailblazer clone with more depth and better background graphics throughout. A bit on the easy side though.
Prohibition/Infogrames (YS21, 7)
A good fast shoot 'em up in the Cop Out format. If you like target games, this one's a must for your collection.
Rebel/Virgin (YS22, 7)
A cleverly plotted arcade adventure with a bit of strategy and a lot of terrific graphics.
Red LED/Starlight (YS24, 8)
Cracking Spindizzy/Gyroscope type arcade puzzler. Very addictive and easy to play, but beware, it's no push-over to complete.
Riding The Rapids/Players (YS26, 5)
Insipid canoe slalom simulator. Extremely damp gameplay, only saved by the addition of an easy-to-use course editor package.
Rockford/MAD X (YS29, 8)
Boulder Dash clone with plenty of challenge, plus the very welcome inclusion of Rockman on the "B" side for free. Get it!
Salamander/Konami (YS26, 4)
Nemesis part two, but don't get excited. It's awful. A backward step for shoot-'em-ups.
Satcom/Atlantic (YS22, 7)
A great little hacking game - a fine followup to the excellent Supercom.
Streaker/Bulldog (YS23, 7)
Useful little Spellbound clone with nice animation plus a touch of originality in the plot. Excellent value.
Super Nova/Players (YS24, 7)
Another 'collect the objects' game, similar to many others, but with some interesting and clever features. Good value.
Tetris/Mirrorsoft (YS28, 9)
An original and very, very playable puzzle game from the freezing Steppes of Mother Russia. A future number one or I'll eat a Pot Noodle!
Thing/Players (YS30, 8)
Superb quality budget gear. Thoroughly playable 'collect and connect' game from the author of Joe Blade. A must buy.
Thundercats/Elite (YS25, 9)
Tastier than a can of Kitty-Kat, more playful than a kitten, it's an unashamed sweat-inducing beat 'em up with bags of style and fantastic graphics.
World Class Leaderboard/US Gold (YS25, 9)
Excellent follow-up to the original Leaderboard. The inclusion of longer fairways and trees gives it a truly authentic feel.
Yogi Bear/Piranha (YS25, 8)
Another cartoon conversion. Not quite what it could be but bear with it and you should find plenty to keep you amused.
