4-Most Action/Alternative (YS63, 87)4-Most Balls, Boots And Brains/Alternative (YS75, 81) 4-Most Sports/Alternative (YS63, 83) Addams Family, The/Ocean (YS78, 86) A juicy, addictive platformer marred by incredibly, amazingly, unbelievably annoying controls. American 3D Pool/Zeppelin (YS77, 79) Fast, fun and funky. Ignore the presentation - it's considerable! Astroball (SAM)/Revelation (YS80, 90) Just as much fun as the Speccy version, if not more so. Screamingly playable. Astroball/Revelation (YS78, 90) Sheer, unadulterated fun. Buy this game extremely quickly. Atlantis Four Game Pack/Atlantis (YS75, 50) Atom Ant/Hi-Tec (YS84, 70) Bateria (PD), The/SSC (YS84, 40) Batman: The Caped Crusader/Hit Squad (YS64, 92)Batman: The Movie/Hit Squad (YS71, 80)Batz 'n' Balls (SAM)/Revelation (YS76, 77) If wall-smashing's your aim, then this is your game. Beetle Mania (SAM)/GA Bobker (YS79, 56) Blazing Thunder/Hi-Tec (YS85, 54) No different from any other vertical shooter. Boing! (SAM)/Noesis (YS83, 75) Bonanza Bros/US Gold (YS80, 66) Far too fiddly to make the grade, but a quick blag now and then is good fun. Boulderdash/Prism (YS84, 86) Brainache (SAM)/Supplement Software (YS79, 71) Bubble Bobble/Hit Squad (YS69, 90)Captain Dynamo/Codemasters (YS79, 88) A colourful, bouncy, groovesome platformy sort of thing that's a tad too hard for its own good. Captain Planet/Mindscape (YS75, 49) Pretentious and exploitative attempt to ride on the success of the TV show. The game's pretty bad as well. Championship Run/Zeppelin (YS75, 84) Count Duckula II/Alternative (YS84, 9) Crazy Demo (PD), The/X-Terminator (YS81, 85) Daylight Robbery (SAM)/Supplement Software (YS80, 65) Double Dragon III/Storm (YS75, 88) Third time lucky for the Dragons. Not quite the best beat-'em-up of all, but darn close. Dragon Ninja/Hit Squad (YS66, 60)Driller/Hit Squad (YS65, 97)Drop Out (SAM)/Supplement Software (YS83, 25) Dyzonium (SAM)/FRED (YS85, 82) Eel (PD)/Pentagram (YS84, 50) Emlyn Hughes International Soccer/Touchdown (YS80, 85)Fireman Sam/Alternative (YS78, 70) Good fun for the younger Spec-chum. I'd question the lasting appeal though. Fists Of Fury/Virgin (YS65, 60) One goodie, 2 humdrums and a duffer. The Fury would come after buying it! Football Manager World Cup Edition/Addictive (YS57, 82) For fans, the best thing since the last Footie Man. The unconverted should start running now! Grafix Bank One (PD)/Vision (YS84, 15) Hands Of Stone/Beyond Belief (YS85, 70) Difficulty level aside, a neat little beat-'em-up. Hanna-Barbera Cartoon Character Collection, The/Hi-Tec (YS74, 39) Helter Skelter/Audiogenic (YS65, 94) 'Wicked' cutsie platform game that's more addictive than a very addictive thing. Hexagonia (SAM)/Revelation (YS73, 84) Impatience (SAM)/FRED (YS73, 90) Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade/Kixx (YS71, 79)International Five-a-Side Football/Zeppelin (YS80, 20) Simply put, the fourth worst game I've ever played. Jonny Quest/Hi-Tec (YS75, 84) Top quality platform fun with one of H-B's lesser-known characters. A stonker. Kaleidoscope (SAM)/SAMCo (YS79, 60) Kenny Dalglish Soccer Manager/Zeppelin (YS67, 85)Kung Fu Warriors/Beyond Belief (YS85, 38) Somebody hit those playtesters with an oiled cricket bat. Legendary Spectrum Demo (PD)/Pentagram (YS85, 86) Lone Wolf - The Mirror Of Death/Audiogenic (YS65, 92) A treat for the eyes, a joy to the ears and a blinking great (but tough) arcade adventure to boot. Madness Remix (PD)/X-Terminator (YS84, 72) Manic Miner (SAM)/Revelation (YS76, 84) Spread the word - the eccentric explorer with the taste for treasure is back! Match Of The Day/Zeppelin (YS82, 82) It's a management sim for the masses. And it's rather fine! Mega Demo 10 (SAM)/SAM Supplement (YS77, 69) Mercenary/Novagen (YS67, 99)Mini Stocks (PD)/Angelo Bagassi (YS85, 72) Never-Ending Story II, The/Linel (YS77, 40) It ties in well with the film. And it looks quite nice. But it doesn't actually do much, does it? No More Intelligence - The Trilogy (PD)/Dynamite Dynastie (YS81, 90) Parallax (SAM)/FRED (YS83, 58) Passing Shot/Encore (YS67, 90)Pazook (SAM)/Supplement Software (YS80, 52) Popeye II/Alternative (YS65, 95) Popeye III/Alternative (YS83, 56) Not a patch on Tag Team Wrestling and, after Popeye and Popeye 2, a great disappointment. Potsworth And Co/Hi-Tec (YS77, 92) Loopier than a twist of peel, and stormingly playable. Get it. Now. Q10 Tankbuster/Zeppelin (YS77, 39) Instant playability, zilch in the way of lasting appeal. One of those load it-play it-bin it games. Quattro Cartoon/Codemasters (YS68, 90) Quattro Fighters/Codemasters (YS75, 84) Quattro Firepower/Codemasters (YS68, 85) Quattro Racers/Codemasters (YS68, 90) Quinquagesima (PD)/The Lords (YS81, 78) Reckless Rufus/Alternative (YS82, 90) Tip-top puzzle game with splendid graphics. SAM Juggler Demo (SAM)/Codigo (YS77, 80) SAM Pack One (SAM)/Revelation (YS78, 81) Shock (PD)/Kaz and Ziutek of ESI (YS82, 92) Six Appeal/Ubisoft (YS72, 88) Sleepwalker/Zeppelin (YS81, 75) It's incredibly good fun for a while, but the game's really a missed opportunity. There's just not enough to do. Snare/Beyond Belief (YS79, 90) It's simple. It's addictive. Um, that's it really. Space Gun/Ocean (YS76, 62) A gory giant of a game that's sadly impossible to follow. Splat! (SAM)/Revelation (YS76, 68) Sweetly simple and horribly playable. You may flip over it. Then again you may not. Superheroes/Domark (YS74, 70) Superstar Seymour/Codemasters (YS84, 68) £13 is a lot to pay for such short-term playability. Get Sgt on budget instead. TNT II/Domark (YS76, 49) Tilt/Linel (YS78, 30) The atrocious controls kill the game stone dead. I'm sorry, but they just do. Toobin'/Hit Squad (YS70, 82)Trap Door Collection/Alternative (YS63, 92) Triltex - The Later Levels (SAM)/FRED (YS77, 84) Triltex fans will need no holding back, but be warned - this game is hard. Xybots/Hit Squad (YS71, 92)SAM Centre - SAMCo's Demise (YS81) It's official - SAMCo has gone down. But! The Coupe lives on. Jon Pillar takes up the story... |
