3D Construction Kit/Domark (YS68, 92)
Amazing. Would-be architects, city planners, and everybody else should start saving their dosh now!
Action Double/Challenge (YS72, 90)
Two games on one tape that are more absorbing than a twin-pack of Dixcel.
Avalanche/CCS (YS73, 82)
Why not visit Italy this Christmas? It'll be a lovely holiday, especially if you win.
Back To The Future Part III/Mirrorsoft (YS63, 82)
Like BTTF2, more small games. Nothing too earth-stomping, but worth playing as a whole.
Banger Racer/D&H (YS71, 52)
Okayish graphics and decent speed don't really rescue this 'un.
Battle Command/Ocean (YS67, 86)
Fast, fun and, er, flippin' violent. Some of the missions could have been harder though.
Big Nose's American Adventure/Codemasters (YS74, 80)
A good game. Much better than covering your bicycle with honey and inviting your friends to throw Rice Krispies at each other.
Bubble Dizzy/Codemasters (YS74, 80)
Enjoyable but frustrating trip to Davy Jones' locker. Take a rolled-up newspaper with you.
CJ In The USA/Codemasters (YS72, 81)
CJ is cute and cuddly but don't be misled - it's a tough, well put-together game.
Chase HQ II - Special Criminal Investigation/Ocean (YS63, 71)
SCI - it's racy, pacy and lacey. But we've seen most of it before (except the lacey bits). (Oi! Come back here! Ed)
Cisco Heat/Mirrorsoft (YS74, 68)
Cisco Heat doesn't take racing games places they've never been. It's not very good, really.
Coin-Op Hits II/US Gold (YS66, 78)
A compilation of 5 generally alright (and very violent) games. Just teeters above average.
Cricket Captain/D&H (YS67, 67)
If you like management sim and cricket, this might 'bowl' you 'over', but the appeal is limited.
Cromwell At War/CCS (YS67, 74)
Solid and playable wargame. Could serve as an okay intro to the 'genre'.
Darkman/Ocean (YS70, 85)
Damn good beat-'em-up - but it's very tough and you only get one life, so you might not get too far.
Dirt Track Racer/Zeppelin (YS68, 73)
It won't tax the old brian cells (Brain, surely. Ed), but it's a bit of fun in an otherwise lonely world.
ESWAT/US Gold (YS63, 68)
So-so shoot-'em-up. A bit too easy and repetitive for its own good.
Exterminator/Audiogenic (YS64, 73)
Out-of-the-ordinary shoot-and-puncher that should have been better. Doesn't offer that much to do.
Final Fight/US Gold (YS70, 77)
Arcade beat-'em-up, with chunky big sprites (which can tend to slow things down a bit).
G-LOC/US Gold (YS74, 90)
As fast as you like and as tough as they come. That's me. Oh, and G-LOC is very similar. Bye bye.
Gauntlet III/US Gold (YS66, 89)
Very nice 'tweaked-up' 3D version of the legendary old arcade shooter. A mapper's delight and brill in 2-player.
Gremlins II - The New Batch/Elite (YS63, 72)
Platform that's too difficult and glitchy to make you really want to stick with it.
Hero Quest/Gremlin (YS65, 86)
Engaging arcade adventure/good board game conversion. Hours of fun with your friends!
Hudson Hawk/Ocean (YS72, 80)
It's big and it's absorbing. Sort of like a fluffy towel, really.
Hunt For Red October, The/Grandslam (YS66, 66)
Hmm. The bits don't hang together as well as they should. The shoot-'em-up parts are fun though.
International Speedway/Codemasters (YS74, 60)
Take it for a spin only if you're a real speedway freak (or your your name is Susanne spelt with an 's').
Jahangir Khan's World Championship Squash/Krisalis (YS65, 79)
Very nicely done squash game, but difficult. If you're not into the game you might get bored quick.
Jimmy's Soccer Manager/Beyond Belief (YS73, 51)
I don't expect this will score in your goal. If it does, make sure sure it's obeyed the off-side rule! (Eh? Ed)
Jimmy's Super League/Beyond Belief (YS74, 58)
Sick as a parrot or over the moon. It depends on whether you like management sims. This one is pretty okayish, actually.
MERCS/US Gold (YS67, 75)
Smart and speedy, certainly. It's just a bit too easy for the seasoned campaigner.
Megaphoenix/Dinamic (YS68, 53)
Perfectly playable, but too much of an expensive Space Invaders clone. Go for a budgie imitator instead.
Mountain Bike Simulator/Codemasters (YS68, 67)
Not-that-bad mountain bike scroller, but you brain (or trigger finger) won't be aching too much after you've played it.
Multi Player Soccer Manager/D&H (YS64, 85)
A management game, but good fun nevertheless.
Neighbours/Zeppelin (YS73, 81)
It made my eyes go a bit funny, but it's a fun (and tricky) 3D Aussie soap-related scroller.
OutRun Europa/US Gold (YS71, 83)
Car driving games come and go, but OutRun Europa is a classic set of wheels!
Paris To Dakar Rally/Codemasters (YS69, 62)
Paris To Dakar is fast, furious and actually quite fun.
Predator II/ImageWorks (YS66, 73)
A big film licence carrying on otherwise unspectacular Op Wolf-ish shoot-'em-up.
Prince Of Persia (SAM)/Domark (YS69, 90)
Top-notch platform slash-'em-up, with incredible animation. As good a reason as any to buy a Coupe.
RBI 2/Domark (YS66, 82)
Good representation of baseball, and a lot of fun. Don't control as much of it as you should though.
Robozone/ImageWorks (YS70, 72)
Big, tough, but not very colourful game, which'll get true arcade-blaster fans hooked.
Round The Bend/Zeppelin (YS73, 74)
Way out wacky fun with people on telly you've never seen. Well, I've never seen them and I'm the reviewer. So there.
Seymour Goes To Hollywood/Codemasters (YS72, 90)
It's Dizzy by another name, but it's brilliant and very, very big!
Simpsons - Bart Vs The Space Mutants, The/Ocean (YS72, 92)
It's big, tough and lots of fun. Get it and do the Bartman, right now!
Smash TV/Ocean (YS71, 92)
Sell your family to buy Smash TV. It's the Christmas biggy, all right!
Stack Up/Zeppelin (YS68, 86)
A Tetris rip-off, but a colourful, addictive and extremely entertaining one. (And dirt cheap too.)
Star Control/Accolade (YS64, 85)
A bit of a split personality, this one. The strategy bit is a trifle limited, but the combat stuff's brill.
Super Monaco Grand Prix/US Gold (YS65, 82)
One of the better 3D race games, although a couple of gripes knock it down a bit.
Super Space Invaders/Domark (YS73, 88)
Jolly good show, Domark. Pity some of the screens are quite impossible to clear, eh?
Switchblade/GBH (YS74, 93)
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: The Coin-Op/Mirrorsoft (YS72, 89)
I predict that this great Turtles game will be quite popular, even though nobody's ever heard of them!
Terminator II/Ocean (YS71, 88)
Arnie strikes back! It's big, it's fun and it's one for your collection. (It's also dead hard.)
Titanic Blinky/Zeppelin (YS73, 88)
If you don't get Titanic Blinky you'll be all adrift in the New Year.
Total Recall/Ocean (YS63, 84)
A great game, but not quite as big as 'Big' Arnie himself. (It's not too easy either.)
Toyota Celica GT Rally/Gremlin (YS64, 90)
Very smart little racing game - handsome to look at, fun to drive and fast, fast, fast!
Turrican II/Rainbow Arts (YS69, 92)
Enormous multi-scrolling shooter, with bags of playability. What more could you want?!
Virtual Worlds/Domark (YS69, 91)
A bumper selection of old Freescape games, with the addition of a stonking Castle Master sequel. The biz!
Viz/Virgin (YS67, 76)
A lot of fun the first time you play it, but it goes downhill fast. It's not that big and it's not that good.
WWF Wrestlemania/Ocean (YS73, 91)
This is it, grapple fans! If you're a fan of wrestling (or fighting in general), you'll have a ball with WWF.
Wars Of The Roses/CCS (YS72, 75)
It's history in the making - get it to exercise your brain not your trigger finger!
Welltris/Infogrames (YS64, 79)
It's clever, logical and fast, but looks a bit naff. Still, if you like puzzle games, you'll go a bundle.
